About Me

Although probably extremely obvious, I am in no way a beauty or blogging professional. I'm an everyday girl who spends far too much of her salary on beauty products. Anything I write is my honest opinion and hope it can help readers make their beauty buys. Please read and enjoy, and don't hesitate to ask me any questions! X

Gigi Hadid's foundation?!

What do you do when you come across a post that tells you what 'high street' foundation Gigi Hadid wore to the AMA's? If you have any sense you would think she... a) probably had loads of high end stuff to compliment it, or, b) wore it, but has heavenly skin that doesn't warrant the need for coverage. BUT, if you're me, you definitely ran (drove) to the nearest boots and threw your money at the cashier. I'm talking about Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation (£5.99). This is a light - medium coverage foundation, definitely not an "out out" - cakey saturday night type contender. I found it suitable for oily skin as it didn't appear to worsen my t - zone area, but it disappeared quickly; off my nose particularly. It's a thin consistency so it's easily buildable, but I found myself having to cover red spots with more concealer. Yes, it's nice if you have decent skin anyway and just want a dusting of foundation, but if you have problematic skin I wouldn't recommend it.

Next, Arbonne. If you're anything like me, you fear unknown cosmetic brands, "will it burn my skin?" "will I be in the Daily Mail covered in face blisters?". When I was messaged to ask whether I would consider trying a few of the products, I accepted but only after a google search to make sure there were no major reasons not to. Needless to say, my fears were irrational as always. I tried the mascara first ('It's a Long Story, RRP £28.00) and I was really happy with the results. My eyelashes looked great and it came off really easily with a make up wipe. As I understand, Arbonne works in a similar way to Avon Cosmetics via independent consultants. The internet being the scary place it is, reviews of Arbonne had horror stories of pushy consultants and 'pyramid schemes'. I have to say that the lady who sent me samples hasn't pressurised me to buy any of the products or join her team. I have mini samples of some of the skincare range, so it's difficult to say whethere there are any long term benefits to rave about, but what I have sampled has exceeded my expectations.
