About Me

My photo
Although probably extremely obvious, I am in no way a beauty or blogging professional. I'm an everyday girl who spends far too much of her salary on beauty products. Anything I write is my honest opinion and hope it can help readers make their beauty buys. Please read and enjoy, and don't hesitate to ask me any questions! X

COLOUR THAT FACE

I've learnt two things since starting this blog 1) It's expensive 2) It's time consuming. However, I still love it. Trips to Boots now take double the time as I'm more careful with my purchases. I've also been busy lately (mostly crying at surprise surprise and shouting abuse at the judges' choices on Xfactor) so this is blog is waaaaay overdue.

Now that Summer is well and truly over (yet that Magaluf Weekender programme is still lingering on telly like a bad smell) we're all back to that pale phase - or is this just me?! So, I've looked into adding a little colour to my face and I've explored quite a few different routes.

This is me, with just mascara on, no foundation etc, to show you what I'm dealing with here!

As mentioned in a few previous blogs, I love Benefit's CHA CHA tint. However, the price ain't loveable! So, thinking of the old purse strings, I tried this cheaper option; Rimmer London STAY Blushed in 001 POP OF PINK. (Around £4.50 -  £5.00) available in 2 colours.

To begin with, I put some concealer on my face, just to even out my complexion out a bit. I also used a TRUE MATCH powder all over, including eyelids etc. This power evens out your face without leaving that caked on feeling. (Around £8.00 - £9.00)

Dull, I know, but that's the point. The instructions on this say to apply with fingertips, however, I learnt from the Cha Cha tint that it's not the easiest to get off, so I used a Benefit Foundation Brush instead. I apply very little on in circular movements.

This tint (you can use more if you want) provides that extra bit of colour to your face. I also have Rimmel's FIRECRACKER lipstick on, which adds to the colour. Is it as good as cha cha tint? No. Does it last all day? Kind of, but it's not rain proof.

Next, we all want that kind of natural shine (without the grease) so after seeing an advert of Emma Stone wearing this and admiring her cheekbones I decided to give it a try.. REVLON's Photoready Skinlights in Bare light (this is available in more colours and retails around £12)

Now, you can see why this would not be suitable for anyone with big pores. For me, it looks a little messy on. To show how this works with a little lipstick for a more "sophisticated look"....

Here, I have it on my cheeks and the bridge of the nose. I've also used L'Oreal Paris - Colour Riche in Feeric Fuschia on my lips to add extra colour. I wouldn't rate the Revlon Skinlights that highly, it's not easy to use - applying it over foundation ruins it, but without looks a little greasy.

Next, the bronzer. I prefer pearl bronzer - like this, instead of bar shaped ones.  This is Glam Bronze by L'Oreal paris - the Blonde version.

Here, I applied it all over my face and used Benefit's Cha Cha tint on the cheeks for extra colour. This warms my face up a little, but I think I prefer the rosy look.

How do you colour your face...?

The No Mirror Make Up Challenge

Inspired by Youtube Vidoes I wanted to do the "No Mirror Make up Challenge" [You can do it using by including a shot in between each product if you want to do it the Jenna Marbles way...] Do your make - up as you would normally, minus the mirror. My friend sat in on this so I would 100% not be cheating. Tools included; foundation, mascara, tint, blusher, eyebrow colour and concealer.

I didn't use eyeliner or liquid eyeliner, for the simple reason that I enjoy my eyesight! Poking myself in the eye wasn't on the 'to do' list for Tuesday evening.

So, let's see the results...

Not too bad, eyebrows aren't right and I've got foundation all over my lips..

Not bad..?

Next mission, the 60 seconds make up challenge....

Changing Faces

Looking through my Facebook photos makes me smile.. sad.. reminiscent.. but probably most of all, cringe. I know we shouldn't judge yesterday's fashion by today's standards, but it's easy to think "what the f*ck was I thinking?". When I started Uni I never wore fake tan, a clutch bag for a night out was unheard of and false lashes was a no no for me, a few years on and everything's different. I sometimes think, will I be embarrassed looking back at 2013's pictures...?

So, I went the dreaded 'backwards' on my Facebook profile pictures [what I like to do on really attractive people's profiles to see if they were always that blessed].

[1] 2008 - The year of the blue eyeliner, messy brows and the new look leather jacket I absolutely loved.

[2] Summer 2009 - Magaluf - The year I decided bleach blonde was definitely my thing. Probably one of two times I've been naturally tanned in the past decade.

[3]  Later on in 2009 - hair *actual size* Can't believe my hair was THIS short.

[4] First year of Uni and probably one of the first times I'd had my eyebrows waxed. What's my blusher.. also note - no falsies!
[5] Toning the hair down, it's 2011 and I've got falsies on at last!

[6] A trip into the world of clip in extensions, which soon ended after always taking them out during the night out and clipping them into people's hair..

[7]  2012 ends with big lashes and growing hair..

[8] Which brings me to today...

Do the same and look how different you look, what I notice is that in most of these I'm happy... so I guess even if I am cringing right now, at least it was a laugh!
